About Us

The Working Waterfront Coalition (WWC) is a broad-based coalition representing industrial and commercial users of Washington State's waterfront facilities, ports and concerned citizens. We seek to continue our important roles as stewards of the environmental and economic health of our waterways. Our coalition was formed to work with the Dredged Materials Management Program (DMMP) and others to continue the safe, economical and environmentally-appropriate disposal of low-level contaminated dredged materials from our urban bays and waterways. Learn more about DMMP...

WWC seeks to preserve maritime commerce and the environment through the continuation of safe, economical and environmentally appropriate methods for disposing of low-level dredged materials generated from our urban bays and waterways. Our members support regulatory policies that:
  • Are grounded firmly in science
  • Are predictable and reasonable
  • Recognize the difference between navigational dredging and clean-up
  • Make use of property owners' experience and 20-year history of environmental stewardship
  • Represent feasible disposal solutions
  • Build on DMMP's past success
Unfortunately, current proposals from DMMP are not consistent with these principles.

Our coalition believes that through a collaborative, transparent, scientifically-grounded approach, DMMP can continue playing an important role in improving the overall health of bays in Puget Sound by keeping open the option of transferring materials from the sensitive near-shore environment to deep water sites.

We need your support so we can continue our role as environmental stewards. Send an e-mail to to request more information.
